Tips and Tricks for Pasture Raised Eggs Storage and Preparation
- We recommend using within 2 weeks. Our eggs are fresh from the chicken, so they will last for several weeks, but the quality will begin to degrade.
- Due to regulations, our eggs are washed and therefore should be refrigerated. We wash eggs as close to the time of sale as possible to preserve the quality.

How our Pasture Raised Eggs are raised
Our chickens spend their days out in the yard, scratching, dusting and exploring. We keep roosters with our hens so they can protect the flock when they are out in the open. At night, they go back into their pens to stay safe from predators. In the winter, they spend more time inside because they hate snow. When its snowing or when snow covers the ground, they will not go outside. Instead, we bring in lots of fresh organic produce, bread and other treats from New Morning Natural Market.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long will your eggs last?
- Fresh, pasture raised eggs will last for many weeks. We sell our pasture raised eggs at peak freshness, therefore they will last up to 8-10 weeks. For quality purposes, we recommend using them within two weeks.
What is the difference between cage free, free range and pasture raised?
- Cage free simply means the chickens are not in cages. Typically, these chickens are still enclosed in a large, over crowded barn with no access to the outdoors.
- Free Range means they have access to an outdoor space. It doesn’t always mean that space has grass or even dirt.
- Pasture Raised means they have full access to the outdoors. Pasture raised means chickens have the ability to wander around, scratch and eat bugs in the pasture.
